  • This small tern is laying its egg on bare thin branch in a small depression without a nest. Tern is also quick to relay should it lose the egg. The newly hatched chicks have well developed feet with which to hang on to their precarious nesting site.

  • Rescued Red-footed Booby (Sula sula) chicks, Half Moon Caye Natural Monument, Belize...If a Red-footed Booby chick falls out of its nest, its parents will not retrieve it. Each morning, the Belize Audubon Society residents will look for fallen chicks and rescue any that they find. Rescued chicks are placed on tree branches for part of te day sp that they become accustomed to perching on them. The chicks will fledge once they are mature.
